Our founder Marie Guyot didn’t learn this in theory. She learned it in private-equity war rooms and operational battlefields, where companies have 3–5 years to transform and exit at big multiples. Pace matters. Focus matters. Impact matters. You’re forced to deliver big results with limited resources, and you learn what truly makes a business work.
After private equity, Marie worked in-house and as an adviser, helping startups scale operations and prepare for major funding rounds.
Later, when one of her own ventures failed, the lesson hit hard: founders are both the bottleneck and the unlock. Even with experience and strong instincts, unseen founder patterns can quietly drive everything, from team behaviour to sales momentum. How a founder shows up, what they avoid, what they prioritise… it all cascades through the business. And when you're pushing toward the first £1m, those patterns can mean growth, or collapse.
Something else became clear: founder time-freedom isn’t a reward that comes later. It has to be designed into the business from the start. Combine that with the right focus, systems, tools and mindset, and everything changes. The business shifts from a house of cards to a solid, scalable foundation — ready for seven figures and beyond, without breaking the founder in the process.
Scale and Sustain was born from this philosophy: giving founders access to the mindset and discipline usually reserved for private equity, without the burnout culture. No BS. Supportive. Practical. Experience-backed. Grounded in real operators, real results, and the lessons that only trial and error can teach.
We all build better when we feel inspired, connected, and grounded in something outside our business. That’s why 5% of our profits are pledged each year to support independent artists and the organisations that champion them. Because inspiration fuels better thinking, better work, and better lives.
